- Our company history
Explore Ackurat’s history from the first steps to the latest advancements to become
the company we are today. Below you get an overview of the major events.
1946
It all started with Ingvar Svensson who founded the company in Lammhult, a small town located in southern Sweden. In the factory, they produced, among other things, this citrus press which, like other household utensils, was made of Bakelite, a durable thermosetting plastic.

1958
We started our production of thermoplastic parts for furniture, including feet for the iconic Pyramid chair.

1960s
The furniture industry grew rapidly in the area around Lammhult, and the demand for our products increased. Thus, we proudly distributed the first catalogue with a standard range.
1987
ITAB, now XANO Industri AB, acquired Ackurat, making it the first company integrated into the new industrial group.

1992
Our first step outside Sweden was taken by opening a sales office in Helsinki, Finland.

2003
We raised the bar in the furniture industry when we became the first company in the world to vibration weld felt onto our furniture feet!

2004
From one place to the whole world – we launched our online store and started promoting our products on the internet.

2007
We increased our ability to serve customers across Europe by opening a sales office in Gdansk (Poland).

2010
By also opening a new warehouse and some manufacturing in Gdansk (Poland), we further increased our efficiency.

2022
Finally! After two pandemic years with COVID, we get to meet our customers again! Now the tough restrictions are gone and we are exhibiting for the first time at Design District in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
